Searching YouTube, I discovered internet users who dress up and perform as dolls as if they were inanimate objects. Using such videos and similar found material I assembled my discoveries within the office of a fictional turn-of-the-century sex researcher. This installation serves as an apparatus (or mask itself) which grants access to the exploration of the fantastic desires enveloped in these documents. The viewer is invited to investigate the origins of these abnormalities and to begin to piece together the ways these desires were acted on with electricitybefore the internet. Low resolution .jpgs and videos are given new authority when framed in cherry and encased in glass. Although normally looked upon as exercises in perversion, when placed into this context these specimens mutate into the acts of hobbyists, children, teenagers, the elderly, death masks, or perhaps hallucinations.
